Does Your Hardwood Floor
Need to Be
Replaced or Refinished?

DON'T BE FOOLED OR MISLED

YOUR FLOOR MUST BE REPLACED

Unfortunately, some companies will tell you that your floor can't be saved and it needs to be replaced.

Some tell you that because they don't refinish wood floors and they make more money selling you a new one. Some companies tell you your floor can't be saved because they don't have the experience, both scenarios are bad.

If you have wood floors the majority of the time they can be saved and refinished.

We can normally tell you with just a few pictures

YOU HAVE WAX BUILD UP, WE MUST SAND YOUR FLOOR

That's not totally true. We use a special solution to losen the wax then our scrubbing and brushing machines to restore the integrity of your flooring.

We then buff and apply a new coat of finish bringing your floors back to life.

YOUR FLOORS MUST BE REFINISHED

Do your floors need to be refinished? If you want to change the color, yes. If you have deep scratches you want removed, yes.

If you have huge wore out areas or water damaged bucking, yes. But honestly a lot of the wood floors we look at only need a deep cleaning, light sanding and a new coat of polyurethane.

We call it a screen and coat.

Its a fraction of the cost and can have your floor looking almost new.

PROFESSIONAL CLEANING

Some times all you need is a professional cleaning.

We vacuum the floor with our felt-tip pads, spray our special neutralizing cleaner, buff with our high speed buffers, let it dry and then buff with a clean pad giving the floor a nice glow.

Refinishing Hardwood Flooring from  Tampa to Fort Myers

The #1 Question We Get: How Do You Refinish Hardwood Floors?

Refinishing hardwood floors is one of the most common inquiries we receive at Infinity Interiors. As a family-owned business serving Tampa to Fort Myers, we are committed to providing quality flooring solutions that enhance the beauty and longevity of your home. Here’s a straightforward guide to our process that answers some of your questions.

Preparing for Hardwood Floor Refinishing

The two biggest challenges when refinishing hardwood floors are moving furniture and choosing the perfect stain color.

If the space is empty, you’re all set! But most homes require furniture removal before refinishing. Once your flooring is clear, we’re ready to start.
As for choosing a stain, we always recommend sampling colors directly on your floor for the most accurate preview. Online images and store samples can help, but real-life testing is the best way to find the perfect match for your space.

Our Nearly Dust-Free Refinishing Process

Infinity Interiors uses top-quality equipment with advanced vacuum systems, capturing about 90% of the dust during refinishing. While no refinishing is entirely dust-free, our equipment and use of plastic sheeting help minimize dust in your home, creating a cleaner process from start to finish.

Sanding, Filling, and Perfecting

We carefully sand the floors in stages, using 7 to 8 grades of sandpaper to ensure a smooth, flawless surface. This process removes only a thin layer of wood, maintaining the integrity of your flooring while erasing imperfections. Between each sanding pass, we fill nail holes, cracks, and gaps to create a seamless look. Although hardwood expands and contracts throughout the year, we work to minimize any gaps that may reappear over time.

Staining and Finishing for a Lasting Look

If you choose to have your floors stained, we begin by cleaning the wood with a solution of denatured alcohol and water. This step opens the grain, allowing the stain to penetrate for a rich, even color. We hand-apply the stain in sections, following the grain of the wood for the best results. Once dry, we seal the beauty with four coats of clear polyurethane, lightly sanding between each layer to ensure a smooth, resilient finish.
